ThinkMarkets Review 2026

ThinkMarkets scores 78.7 out of 100, positioning itself as a solid mid-tier choice with competitive spreads and a polished proprietary mobile app. Based in Melbourne with FCA, ASIC, and CySEC regulation, ThinkMarkets has been growing steadily since 2010. Its ThinkTrader platform won multiple awards for mobile trading. The main drawbacks are a $30 inactivity fee after 6 months and a limited forex pair selection (46, the smallest in our review).

Scores are consistent across most categories. Trading Costs at 80 reflects competitive standard spreads (0.40 pips EUR/USD is better than many competitors' spread-only accounts). The Standard account's 0.40 pip average with no commission gives a lower all-in cost than some brokers' raw spread accounts when you include their commissions.

Regulation & Safety

| Regulator | Tier | License | Entity | |-----------|------|---------|--------| | FCA (UK) | Tier 1 | 629628 | TF Global Markets (UK) Limited | | ASIC (Australia) | Tier 1 | 424700 | TF Global Markets (Aust) Pty Ltd | | CySEC (Cyprus) | Tier 2 | 215/13 | TF Global Markets (Europe) Ltd | | FSCA (South Africa) | Tier 2 | 49835 | TF Global Markets (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd | | DFSA (Dubai) | Tier 2 | F004205 | TF Global Markets (DIFC) Ltd | | FSA Seychelles | Tier 3 | SD060 | TF Global Markets Int Limited |

Two Tier 1 licenses (FCA, ASIC) supported by three Tier 2 regulators. Good regulatory breadth. The Seychelles entity serves international clients. Negative balance protection, segregated funds, and investor compensation (up to EUR 20,000 for CySEC clients, GBP 85,000 for FCA clients) are provided.

Trading Costs

Spreads

| Pair | Standard Avg. | ThinkZero Avg. | |------|--------------|----------------| | EUR/USD | 0.40 pips | 0.00 pips + $7/lot | | GBP/USD | 0.80 pips | 0.20 pips + $7/lot | | USD/JPY | 0.60 pips | 0.10 pips + $7/lot |

The Standard account at 0.40 pips EUR/USD with no commission is notably tight for a spread-only account. For comparison, Pepperstone's Standard is 1.00 pips, IC Markets' Standard is 0.80 pips, and XTB is 0.92 pips. ThinkMarkets' Standard account may actually be cheaper than some competitors' raw spread accounts when you factor in commissions.

Other Fees

  • Inactivity fee: $30 after 6 months
  • Deposit fees: Free
  • Withdrawal fees: Free

The $30 inactivity fee after 6 months is harsh. It's the second-highest dollar amount in our review (behind AvaTrade's $50/$100 structure) and triggers relatively quickly.

No cTrader. No TradingView. API trading is available. VPS hosting for qualifying traders.

Cons:

  • $30 inactivity fee after 6 months

Final Verdict

ThinkMarkets is an underrated broker with genuinely competitive Standard account spreads. The 0.40 pip EUR/USD average with no commission is better value than many raw spread accounts when you include their commissions. The ThinkTrader mobile app is excellent for traders who do most of their trading on a phone.

The inactivity fee and limited forex pairs are the main concerns. 46 forex pairs is significantly fewer than competitors (IC Markets has 61, Exness has 96, CMC Markets has 330+). And the $30/month inactivity charge will punish anyone who steps away from trading.

ThinkMarkets ranks in our scalping and low spread category lists. For APAC-based traders in particular, it's worth a closer look.
